Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bennie Mae Johnson graced this life with her presence on November 1, 1930 to Benjamin Battle and Mary Ellison Battle.

She confessed Christ at an early age in 1946 and joined Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

She attended school and graduated in 1947 from Russell County Training School in Hurtsboro, Alabama.  She met her husband, Joseph Johnson, of sixty-five years and they were married on November 29, 1958.  They were blessed with two children, Janet Johnson and Ward Alan Johnson.  She graduated from Chattahoochee Valley Community College and became a Registered Nurse.  She worked as a Registered Nurse at Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia for twenty-seven years until her retirement in 1990.

Bennie Mae Johnson was a faithful member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the community until her health began to fail.  She gained her wings on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Mary Battle; granddaughter, Alanna Johnson and grandson, Joseph Alan Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Joseph Johnson; daughter, Janet Johnson; son, Ward Alan Johnson; two maternal granddaughters, Joselyn (Dwight) Smith and Jennifer Robinson; a maternal grandson, Jeffery Taylor; a paternal granddaughter, Allison Johnson; great grandchildren, Jeron Stanford, Terik Smith, Kamryn Smith, Rilee Robinson, Joshua Bond-Johnson, Marleigh Johnson, and Hannah Joy Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
