Obituary

Visitation will be Friday, February 18, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Ms. Bertha Harper Owens was born on September 26, 1925 in Russell County, Alabama to the late Ellis Harper and the late Cyntharetta Davis Harper.  She was the last of nine children born to that union. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
Bertha accepted Christ at an early age and joined Wesley Chapel A.M.E Church, later named Nichols Chapel A.M.E. Church.  There she served in the Choir No. 2, the Usher Board, and the Stewardess Board No. 3.
She was blessed with three children and 2 grandchildren that preceded her in death:  Helen Simpson Carson and twins Carl and Curtis Simpson,  faithful granddaughter Denita ReShell Colvin and great-grandson Deionte´ Rashaad Brown.  They all will be waiting for her at the gate.
Those left to carry on her legacy and grow in grace are grandchildren James Brown, Sean Brown, Deyana Basilio, Curtis Simpson, Jr., and Curnisha Simpson;  eleven great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; sister Sallie Harper; four nieces; two nephews; God-daughter Latoya Chambers; special friends, the Pattersons and Barbara Bradley; a devoted friend and neighbor Eula Denson; and a host of cousins, friends, and church family.
