Mrs. Dorothy Ann Tolbert was born in Columbus, Georgia, on January 1, 1945, to the late Frank Sr. and Emma Mae Turner Herren. She was the third child of seven children. She departed this life for her eternal reward on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Arabella Health and Wellness facility in Phenix City, Alabama.
Dot was ONE OF A KIND… Dorothy grew up in Fredrick Douglass in Phenix City and attended South Girard High School. She married in 1965 to the late Kurt Joe Lee Tolbert. She moved back home in 1989 and retired in 2000. In retirement, she enjoyed a cozy blanket and her action-adventure movies, QVC shopping, TV mysteries, and drama shows.
Dorothy accepted Christ at a young age and joined Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Anderson. She was a faithful member of the Church. She was a Matron for the women's ministry, provided comfort and support through the Nurses Guild ministry, and served as a member of the auxiliary missionary board.
She was preceded in death by her eldest sister, Marie Herren.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two brothers, Frank Herren Jr. and Amos Herren (Dorothy), and three sisters, Gloria Herren, Barbara Belk (Charlie), and Johnnie Mae Brown.
