Visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Sister Freddie Mae Scott was born September 30, 1942 in Seale, Alabama to her blessed parents, the late Fred Matthews and Eunice Holmes Upshaw. She fought a good fight, and finished her course early morning on Saturday, July 16, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones in Phenix City, Alabama.
In her early childhood, she accepted Christ and joined the St. Peter AME Church of Seale, Alabama. After entering into Holy Matrimony, she joined St. Luke AME Church of Hatchechubbee, Alabama where she served faithfully in many capacities, climaxing in the role as President of the Usher Board where her love for stewardship was fully displayed.
Her employment years awarded her with numerous co-workers that yet remained in her life, from her employment at Schwobilt Manufacturing Company to Swift Textiles and continued to the finish line being crossed at Southern Phenix Textiles where she was plant known and loved.
In addition to her parents, Sister Freddie was preceded in death by her loving husband A. C. Scott; a daughter Belinda Scott-Abercrombie; a grandson Xavier Marquise Scott; a great grandson Camren Rickens; a loving stepfather Fred Upshaw; two brothers Oliver Matthews and Robert Matthews; and a sister Francis Matthews.
Those left to cherish her precious memory of a life fully lived are one son Alan Scott; two daughters, Annie (Michael, Sr.) Davis and Yolanda Scott Maddox, all of Phenix City, Alabama; one sister Shirley Phillips of Columbus, Georgia; two brothers, Apostle Ralph (Vilma) Matthews of Columbus, Georgia, and Marc (Debra) Upshaw of Conyers, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother-in-law Robert (Rosie) Scott of Phenix City, Alabama; four sisters-in-law, Amerine Key-Hall of Columbus, Ohio, Rovena Foster of Austin, Texas, Betty Scott of Hatchechubbee, Alabama and Lizzie Scott of Hatchechubbee, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
