Gery Lydell Sanks was born on October 1, 1971, in Muscogee County at the Medical Center to Geneva L. Sanks. He graduated from Carver High School in Columbus, GA. He had multiple jobs with most recently working at Fort Benning and Orchard View Nursing Home.  He departed this life peacefully while sleeping at his home.

Gery was genuine, humble, loving and an all-around wonderful person to anyone he encountered. He got along with everyone. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and York Yankees Fan. He was an athletic person and loved sports.

Gery was preceded in death by his parents, Geneva L. Sanks and Dennis Cambridge; his sister, Deborah V Taylor; his brothers, David L. Sanks, Sr. and Frank C Sanks.

Gery leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sha-Juan Riley; his six children, Aishia Riley-Bruno (Corey Bruno), Cedric Riley, Donovan Riley (Kyla Williams), Nadia Sanks, Nivea Riley, and Javon Sanks; his grandchild, Donovan Riley, Jr.; his sister, Tracy R Sanks; his brother, Donald R. Sanks (Tomasha); his mother-in-law, Shirley Giddens; his father-in-law, Frank Riley; his sister-in-law, Anjela Riley; his brother-in-law, Cazor Riley; special friends, Quentin and Bernard aka "B"; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends are also left to cherish his memories.
