Ida
Grooms
December 11, 1933 – January 12, 2023
Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Rev. Ida Grooms was born to the late Peter and Beatrice Solomon on December 11, 1933. Rev. Ida Grooms transitioned from earth to glory on January 12, 2023.
She received Jesus Christ at a very early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Midway, AL. She completed her studies at Comer High School and furthered her education at Dallas University of Medicine, where she received her Practical Nursing Diploma. When she moved to Phenix City, AL, she worked in a variety of ministries and leadership.
Rev. Ida Grooms was a member of Colbert AME Church and was ordained a Local Deacon under the leadership of the late Presiding Elder W. G Tredwell; and Pastor Jesse L Grooms. She was an affiliated member of Pleasant Grove AME Church. She was the President of the Missionary Society for many years. She was the Co-Founder of Women of Faith Ministry for 30years. She also was the Co-Founder of Prayer Warriors 40 Ministry, an online ministry where she was last serving. She served at Phenix City Nursing Home for 13 years and was an Avon Independent Sales Representative for 65 years until her departure. Her work was never done; she was a joy to whoever she came in contact with as she had never met a stranger.

Deacon Jesse James Grooms on August 22, 1955, and from that union, they were blessed with five children. Three Sons: Tyrone and Jerome Garcia Grooms (twins) that preceded her in death, Pastor Jesse LGrooms (Amanda) and two daughters Valerie Grooms Horace (Eddie, Sr.), Arnetha Grooms Lipscomb (Donell) who was her primary caregiver, along with her Great Granddaughter Paendrea Lipscomb.
She had five sisters that preceded her in death: Lillie Bradley, Beatrice Myers, Willie Williams, Mary L York, and Sadie Pondexter. She had three brothers that preceded her in death: Peter Paul Solomon, Jesse Solomon, and Willie Solomon. She has one grandson that preceded her in death: Gary William. She has five living brothers, Peter Cobb, Eddie Cobb, Mitchell Lee Facet, Aaron Solomon, and Gene Solomon. Three living sisters Beatrice Johnson, Mary Holt,
and Roberta Price. One granddaughter and five grandsons, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends to cherish her memories.
