Visitation will be Friday, August 19, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Jelani Okpara "Yack" Fair was born on February 21, 1977, in Columbus, Georgia, to Evon Joseph and Harold Fair. He also was the proud grandson of the late Robert Lewis and Petronia Morris Miles.
At an early age Jelani, joined the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsview, Alabama, under the leadership of the late Rev. Fletcher Pugh. He served in the compacity as an usher for many years.
He was educated in the Russell County School system.
Jelani was a master mechanic, able to dismantle and put back together just about any project. He loved repairing anything that needed service. He often said, I don't let nothing that doesn't have a brain mastermind me.
In addition to his grandparents, Robert Lewis and Petronia Miles, Jelani was preceded in death by his uncle, Robert Lee Miles, Jr. and his step-fathers, Carl Reed and Leon "Joe" Joseph.
On Monday, August 15, 2022, Jelani mounted up with wings as an eagle to depart this earthly life to his Eternal Home.
Jelani's memories will forever be cherished by his loving mother, Evon Joseph of Columbus, Georgia; his father, Harold Fair of Tuskegee, Alabama; his loving companion, Sequonya Franklin, bonus daughter, Makayla King and bonus granddaughter, Dnyla Jackson of Columbus, Georgia; siblings, Brandy (Marco) Bellot of Springfield, Virginia, Myles Reed of Montgomery, Alabama, Tyiasha Fair of Columbus, Georgia and Jabor Fair of Montgomery, Alabama; uncles, Kenneth Miles, Douglas (Eddie) Miles, Frederick Miles, all of Pittsview, Alabama, and Larry (Latisha) Fair of Opelika, Alabama; aunts, Susie Fair of Rochester, New York and Elouise Johnson of Carol City, Florida; great aunts, Ruth Patton, Juanita Blocker, Eva Comer, Carrie Pearl Bellamy, Prudence Scott and Annie Miles; great uncles, Earnest Sparks and Shelly Davis; special friends, Corey Hodge, Terrell Hodge, and Bobby Hodge; a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
