April 29, 1969 – September 29, 2023
Mr. John Franklin was born on April 29, 1969 in Russell County, Alabama to the late Geraldine Franklin and Henry Lee Jones.
He was a lifelong resident of Phenix City, Alabama. John was a faithful person. Baptized at an early age, he joined Liberty Hill Baptist church in 2013. He was a family man that loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly. John was also a hard-working man, taking on many jobs.
Throughout the years he provided for his family. He was faithful employee of Warr Grading Construction, working until his health failed. Being a people person and having a sense of humor, John never met a stranger. He possessed a gift of engaging and talking to anyone he crossed paths with.
He was quite the athlete growing up, playing football and baseball in his community. John had a passion for college football and was a diehard University of Alabama football fan, "Roll Tide Roll', In his spare time, you would find John watching movies or playing his favorite card game, Spades. While playing Spades with family and friends his favorite quote was "In order to be the man.. you gotta beat the man* In 2007, John married the love of his life, Patricia Smith. Patricia would go on to be a devoted, loving and caring wife.
On Friday. September 29, 2023. John took his final breath and departed this life peacefully at Columbus Specialty Hospital.
John is proceeded in death by his parents, Geraldine Franklin and Henry Lee Jones; and a special aunt, Mattie Brown. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 16 vears, Patricia Franklin; four children, Brianna White (Lee Christian) of Huntsville, AL, Micheale Quarterman of Savannah, GA; Anajah and Alijah Smith of Phenix City. AL. Three sisters, Mamie Williams of Columbus, GA; Juanita Parham of Phenix City. AL and Patty Jones (Eric) Austin of Eufaula, AL. Two brothers, John Henry (Stephanie) Jones and Danny Franklin, all of Phenix City, AL.
One uncle, Wile J (Sarah) Chappell of Columbus, GA. Five grandchildren, Aybria, Ah'Zarya, Ahminah, Jamie and Kaleb. They all are joined by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends keeping John's legacy alive.
