Obituary

Funeral Services will be held 12:30 pm EDT Friday, July 18, 2025 at St. John AME Church. Burial will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Larry Kennedy was born July 20, 1961 in Russell County, Alabama to the late Jessie Lee Kennedy and Mary Kate Tigner Kennedy.

As a young adult, he confessed Christ and joined St. John AME Church.

He was a 1980 graduate of Chavala High School. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the US Army. There he met and married Holly Kennedy. After leaving the military, Larry worked various jobs with the last being KAM Contractors as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Lee Kennedy; his wife, Holly Kennedy and sister, Katherine Florence Kennedy.

He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Kate Kennedy; three daughters, Latisha Hartman (Shawn) San Antonio, TX, Rashanda Kennedy (George) and Alleshia Kennedy (Lamar) all of Wilmington, DE; one granddaughter, whom he adored, Harleigh Renee Kennedy-Mcelveen; two sisters, Linda Miller (Tim) of Phenix City, AL and Minister Carolyn Hammond of Columbus, GA; one brother, Jessie Lee Coney, Fitzgerald, GA; Stepmother, Carrie Kennedy of Phenix City, AL; two nephews that he treated like sons, Terrance James (Verasha) and Torris James (LaChamane); loving and caring neices, Tymia Miller- Livsey (Brandon) and Tijuana Miller -Odoms (Brian); a loving neice that he looked forward to her visits, Taliyah James; Uncles, Frank Kennedy (Mary), Clifford Butler, Bobby Lee Miles, Jerry and Jimbo Miles and Floyd Butler; aunts, Rosie Thomas (Elroy), Emma Jean Thomas (Rev. Willie) and Rosie Jackson; and a host of nephews, neices, relatives and friends.
