Obituary

Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maggie Mae Cooper was born in Rutherford, Alabama to the late Blanchie Mae Sly and Peter Sly on November 20.  She departed this life on December 28, 2022 in Columbus, Georgia.

Maggie was united in Holy Matrimony on January 25, 1969 to the late Ralph Cooper, Jr., and to this union three children were born.
Maggie always started her day with praying and a cup of coffee.  She was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church since 1984 where she served faithfully until her health would no longer allow her to do so.  She was a deaconess, member of the Usher Board and the choir.  She was a very dedicated church member and really loved singing.  She served on the food committee and any other area of the church where she was asked.  She loved her church and she loved the Lord.
Maggie was involved in the surrounding community and could be seen supporting Russell County School activities.  She volunteered at the voting polls and enjoyed attending different activities in the community.  Maggie enjoyed Life.  She was a homemaker who loved working in her yard and she loved flowers.  She enjoyed watching television; especially The Cooking Channel, Atlanta Braves baseball, and her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide football "Roll Tide Roll."
Maggie will most be remembered by her family for her fabulous cooking skills: especially her blackberry cobbler, famous caramel cakes and many other delicious dishes.  She was the glue that held her family together.  She loved her family and they loved her in return.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and her brother Rudolph Sly.
Maggie leaves to cherish her memory her dedicated and loving children who were by her side until the very end, Patricia Cooper, Ralph Cooper III and Tremaine Cooper; five grandchildren, Alexis Cooper, Cedric Cooper, Marquise Cooper, Xavier Cooper and Breonna Prather; four great grandchildren, Adarian Williams, Cedrianna Crump, Carson Lowe and Aiden Prather; six sisters, Willie Bee Thomas, Cleo (Lewis) Johnson, Judy Boyd, Christine (Lee) Wiggins, Ceola Williams and Dorothy (Toney) Hatcher; one brother Timothy (Tammy) Sly; one sister-in-law Brindenna (Jessie) Randolph; along with a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones.
