Mrs. Mary Pearl "Bobby" Word

M ary, daughter of the late Mrs. Lillie B. Newson and the late Mr. Ezekiel Person

was born in South Girard, AL which is now Phenix City, AL on April 17, 1936.

She departed this earthly life and received her heavenly wings, August 19, 2021, at Piedmont Columbus Regional in Columbus, Georgia.

At an early age, Mary, confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was born a again Christian. She was baptized and became a member of St. Peters A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev . Ben Mahone .

Mary, attended Oliver school in Seale, AL. Soon after, Mary met and married her first husband the late Tommy Howard where she was blessed with her first daughter . Soon after she had two more daughters. Later, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Sam mie Word, and they were blessed with her last two daughters. Mary was a quiet, loving, caring housewife that enjoyed her family and the love of pets especially her Rabbits .

Mary also loved sitting back eating her snacks and watching her "Atlanta Braves" go to bat.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt that raised her Mrs. Gertha "Big Ma" Thomas ; her husband Sam mie Word ; her daughter Rosie Howard ; three aunts Rosie Flagg, Frances Daniel, and Annie English; her uncle Dave Newson.

Mary leaves to mourn in her passing: Four loving and caring daughters, Lillie(Charles)King, of Columbus, GA, Mary Simpson of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Laura Word(Elijah) of Phenix City, AL and Brenda(Keon)McDonald of Phenix City, AL; Five Step Daughters: Gwendolyn, Patronia and Thalia Howard , all of Phenix City, AL, Juanita Dawson of Columbus, GA and Frankie Bradley of Virginia Beach, Virginia; One step-son: Kenneth Word of Columbus, GA; Fifteen loving and dear grandchildren: Patricia, Judy, David and Israel Allen all of Columbus, GA, Lakeethia (Lafayette)Riley of Raleigh, North Carolina, A n tron(Barry Smith) Howard of Selma, AL, Demarcus, Demetrious and Brandon Howard all of Phenix City, AL, Nadine Word of Columbus, GA, Timothy Howard of Phenix City, AL, Desanto , Mauriceo , Marquarius and Kentravian Word all of Phenix City, AL; Twenty eight great grandchildren; Thirteen great great grandchildren ; Three sister n laws: Pinkie Johnson of Columbus, GA, Bertha Wright of Patterson, New Jersey and Dorthy Deville of Newark, New Jersey; One brother n law: Freddie Toney of Patterson, New Jersey ; A special cousin Ethel Harris of Phenix City, AL; and s everal devoted family members and friends.
