Obituary

Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM EDT Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Mt Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Glennville, AL. Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

John Alford Williams, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, after a courageous battle with an illness. Born on September 24, 1962 in Eufaula, Alabama, John was a beacon of kindness and generosity whose spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.

John's education began at Pittsview Elementary in Russell County and he later graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, Indiana. Known for his warm heart and infectious smile, John was a man whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. His favorite saying, "I do what I do" encapsulated his approach to life, reflecting his steadfast determination and heartwarming humility.

John was the cherished son of the late Moses and Lizzie Williams. He is predeceased by his parents, Moses Williams (Lizzie), and Allen Jones Jr; brother James David Williams, and sister Jacqueline Williams.

He is survived by his loving mother, Verdine Jones of Hammond, Indiana; his devoted siblings: brothers, Moses Williams Jr. (Georgia Battle), Tommie Williams (Mae) of Hammond, Indiana, Nelson Williams (Sherice) of Fayetteville, Georgia and Tavaras Williams (Shunta) of Phenix City, Alabama; sisters, Clara Jones, Jessie Williams, Lavone Williams of Pittsview, Alabama, Mary Baker of Buena Vista, Georgia, Angela Carter, and Cassandra Douglas of Atlanta, Georgia. John also leaves behind two uncles, seven aunts, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his dear home boys.
