Visitation will be Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Joe Pettaway, Jr., 84, passed quietly at his home in Phenix City, Alabama. Joe Pettaway, Jr. was born on January 16, 1939 in Selma, Alabama to L.V. Sharpe Mitchell and Joe Pettaway, Sr. He had a successful military career in the United States Army which span twenty-five years including a tour in Vietnam and a vast amount of service awards. He gave honorably to his country and retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class.

He married Betty Ann Pettaway on May 15, 1965 and raised two sons, Warren and Ron during their 58 year union. Joe Pettaway ,Jr. was a very social individual to say the least. He never met a stranger and always took time to nurture the neighborhood kids.

Joe Pettaway, Jr. was a kind soul that would hate to let anyone down. If there was a way for him to help someone else, he would find a way to make it happen. He will truly be missed by those that loved him the most!

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Pettaway; sons, Warren Tolbert, Ron (Wanda) Pettaway; and grandchildren, which he loved dearly, Diamond Pettaway and Ron Pettaway Jr. He is also survived by his loving sister Betty (Harvey) Marshall, his aunt Clementine Gillum, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
