She accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of First Central Baptist Church.  She enjoyed watching television, sitting outside and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Obe Sparks and a son Walter Sparks.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory eight loving children, Vera Lee DeGourville, Mark Sparks (Joyce), Sherri Ard, Karen Lattimore (Willford), Michelle Torres, Dr. Yvette Thompson (James), Jacqueline Turnbow (Hartman), and Dominique Sparks (Diane); twenty-four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister Shirley Deer; and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
