Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral.

Mrs. Viola Character Jackson was born September 11, 1931 in Butler, GA to the late John Character and Eliza Character.  She departed this life for her eternal reward on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at her home.

Viola accepted Christ as her Savior and was a faithful member of Primitive Baptist Church in Columbus, GA.  She retired as a cook from the Muscogee County School District.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Eugene Jackson; sons, Johnny Clyde Mims and Larry Mims; a grandson James Mims; and several brothers and sisters.

Viola leaves to cherish her memory a loving son Willie Rodgers Mims; grandchildren, Paqueta Jones (Terrell), Deborah Murray (Orion), Dennis Mims (Brandie), Bonita Hubbard (Carlton); great grandchildren, Christopher, Brad, Brandon, and Kristen Jones, Akaysha, Orion, and Jontavious Murray, and James and Javon (Tankita) Mims; a daughter-in-law Louise Mims; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
